Bill Cornwall was my predecessor as Secretary of this Circle and had been in post longer than anyone could recall at his retirement in 2008, when I took over. Bill had suffered from mobility problems but was a regular attender at Leica events for many years, together with his wife, Joan , a member of another Circle and a Colour specialist. Our Sympathy goes to Joan and the family at this time.
He had been in poor health latterly and was confined to a Nursing Home but maintained an interest in the Circle and the brand until almost the end. He was well acquainted with many members who went back to the foundation of the Society- as Leica Postal Portfolios- in pre-war days.A Member since 1955,he therefore provided a link to the founders and 'famous names' who are best known to us from the trophies and prizes they established.
Bill will be much missed.
